Our Story

A historic reservoir renewed for future generations

The historical background of this reservoir traces back to the British colonial era, when it was discovered and established by Shemrock, the owner of the property at that time. During British rule, many reservoirs and water management systems were developed to support agriculture, irrigation and local communities.

Over the years, the reservoir has remained a significant landmark, reflecting both the colonial history and the natural heritage of the area. Its presence today continues to hold ecological, cultural and historical value, linking past land management practices with present-day environmental conservation efforts.

Restoring historical reservoirs can reinstate environmental value within landscapes shaped by human intervention. These water bodies can be revitalized to support biodiversity, improve water storage, regulate local conditions and reconnect communities with the ecosystems around them.

For Living Heritage, reservoir restoration is more than water storage. It is a practical way to protect biodiversity, strengthen water security and preserve a place that carries cultural memory for the surrounding community.
